The Pitfalls of Antiperspirants.

THE FRESHEST WAY TO SWITCH TO A NON-TOXIC, NATURAL DEODORANT

Natural Deodorants haven’t always had the best reputation, but thanks to a new generation of effective, aluminium free and fragrance free options, there’s never been a better time to ditch your antiperspirant. Let’s face it, chemicals stink.

Conventional antiperspirants use aluminium based compounds that temporarily cork the sweat duct, stopping you from sweating and potentially interfering with your body’s natural ability to remove toxins. Used daily, they can change the bacterial microbiome in your armpits and with consistent use they could make your sweat even smellier (ewww!). Furthermore, the aluminium compounds can cause an acidic reaction to fabric, which is what causes those gross sweat stains on your white t-shirts.

Depending on how long you have been using conventional deodorants or antiperspirants your body may experience a transition period when switching over to a natural deodorant.

Changing this reaction can be done through switching to a non-toxic, natural deodorant.  Brands like Schmidt’sare mineral enriched and effectively work to reduce odour and wetness. Aluminium, parabens and artificial fragrances have been replaced with antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-fungal essential oils that stop odours from forming rather than trying to mask odour with fragrance.

Depending on how long you have been using conventional deodorants or antiperspirants your body may experience a transition period when switching over to a natural deodorant. This can last from a couple of days to a few weeks and is often described as the “Underarm Detox”. During this period, you may notice a temporary increase in sweat, odour and sensitivity.

Fortunately, natural deodorants with plant-based ingredients like coconut oil and shea butter can help sooth sensitivity and irritation whilst the inclusion of botanicals like Germanium Flower, Bergamotand Jasmin Tea are packed with healthy skin benefits to keep you smelling naturally fresh.
