Rohr Remedy is a natural skincare brand that uses ethically sourced Australian botanicals like Kakadu Plum and Boab plant extracts to create products that respond to environmental, hormonal and ageing factors, all year round.
Our sunburnt country is home to verdant landscapes and a plethora of aesthetically-pleasing native plants. But our bountiful and beautiful botanicals aren’t just a bonus for eyeballs and Instagram feeds—they have been harvested and used in healing medicinal practises for centuries by Indigenous Australians, and they do wonders when it comes to skincare and overall health and wellbeing. This is something that Cairns-based natural skincare brand Rohr Remedy, founded by Emily Rohr, knows a thing or two about.
The Australian brand takes a holistic approach to skincare, looking to both ancient natural medicine and cutting edge dermatological science when creating their luxe, affordable line of skincare treats. With a family history in pharmaceuticals that spans generations, a dermatologist father, and a keen interest in bush medicine that has seen her work alongside Indigenous Australian elders for over 20 years, Emily takes a multi-pronged approach to formulating skin care products that respond to environmental, hormonal and ageing factors, all year round.
Rohr Remedy was founded thanks to theshared knowledge and skills of the Yulparitja women and men of Broome, Western Australia. To this day, the brand continues to use only wild-harvested native plant extracts andother natural ingredients rich in essential vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, antibacterials and folates.
So, what exactly are the natural, ethically-sourced ingredients you can expect to find inside their pint-sized bottles of skincare magic? Cult favourites like Boab plant extracts and Kakadu Plum (apowerhouse fruit grown natively in Northern Australia, The Kimberleys and Arnhem Land)are central to the label’s formulation, as are other Australia-specific bush remedies like gumbi gumbi, rosehip oil, australian wildflower, and honey myrtle. As for the nasties that you’ll never find? Parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, propylene glycol, sulphates, synthetic fragrances, Bisphenol A (BPA), artificial colours, aluminium and silicone.
Like all the best beauty brands, Rohr Remedy takes a less is more approach to skincare. This can be seen in everything from their minimalist packaging to their Eight Essentials range—a pared-back lineup of skincare must-haves from deodorant and lip balm, to serum and face moisturiser. Chic, affordable skincare that harnesses both ancient bush medicine—in an ethical and transparent way—and innovative dermatological science? That’s a big yes from us.
